Possible Exploit Resolved by Dogecoin, Zcash, and Litecoin: 280 Other Chains Could Be Endangered
Blockchain security firm Halborn has identified software vulnerabilities in over 280 blockchain networks, posing a significant risk to more than $25bn worth of virtual currency. The vulnerabilities were identified under the collective term “Rab13s”. By attacking unpatched blockchain nodes, attackers can disrupt the entire blockchain. Later, attackers can use this to their advantage through a 51% attack or commit a double spend attack. While some of the vulnerabilities have been previously identified in Bitcoin, others are unique to blockchain networks such as Dogecoin. Litecoin, Horizen and Zcash are among the cryptocurrencies known to have fixed vulnerabilities found by Halborn.
