Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) experienced a drop in price as the overall cryptocurrency market slowed down on 17 March. Other popular altcoins including Dogecoin (DOGE), Ripple (XRP), Litecoin (LTC), and Solana (SOL) all experienced losses. XDC Network (XDC) saw the biggest increase with a 24-hour gain of over 5%. Synthetix (SNX) was the biggest loser experiencing a dip of over 18%. The global crypto market cap stood at $1.07tn with a 24-hour dip of 2.83%. Mudrex co-founder and CEO, Edul Patel, said investors are considering the possibility of a European banking crisis triggered by worries about Credit Suisse, which has faced numerous challenges. WazirX vice president Rajagopal Menon stated bitcoin and Ethereum prices have surged since Tuesday’s levels but despite the loss for both short-sellers and long-term holders, it is being perceived that the banking crisis may affect crypto prices in the near term before renewed investor confidence arises.
