In Recent AMA, CZ Claims That Dogecoin Possesses “Remarkable Longevity”
Binance CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), said in a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Twitter that Dogecoin (DOGE), the largest meme coin, has long-lasting power. CZ added that Elon Musk’s support for the token might have played a significant role in DOGE’s popularity and survival. While CZ acknowledged the high risks associated with the memecoin, he was surprised by its long-lasting nature, given most meme coins have a short lifespan. DOGE originated in 2013 as a fun alternative to Bitcoin and gained widespread popularity due to its association with the internet meme, Doge. It currently has the largest market cap among meme coins at over $10.3 billion, with SHIB and PEPE trailing behind. Elon Musk has been a significant factor in DOGE’s rise in popularity, first expressing his support for it in 2019 on Twitter. His tweets and public statements about DOGE have caused substantial price movements in the memecoin, attracting attention towards it. Musk’s impact on DOGE rose to new heights last month when Twitter replaced its iconic bird logo with an image of a Shiba Inu, causing DOGE’s price to surge more than 20%. The question remains as to whether DOGE will continue to thrive as the world’s largest meme coin.
