‘Dogecoin (DOGE) Creator Suggests Avoiding Investments in Memecoins and NFTs, Brands Cryptocurrency Realm as Foolish’
Dogecoin founder Billy Markus, also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, has warned against investing in memecoins and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) due to the “stupider” nature of the crypto space. Markus claims that Dogecoin was created as a joke over a decade ago to poke fun at the industry and that it has only gotten worse since then. He also stated that he is tired of being harassed regarding Dogecoin, which he has nothing to do with anymore. When asked if he would invest in memecoins or NFTs, Markus replied with “neither.” Currently, Dogecoin is trading at $0.08, with a 2.9% drop in the last 24 hours. Markus’s warning comes amidst a surge of interest in memecoins and NFTs, particularly with the popularity of the “meme stock” phenomenon in early 2021.
