In December of 2020, Dogecoin was still under a penny. There was this little tweet from Elon Musk. One word DOGE. Who knew what that would become?

On January 28th Dogecoin rose from a penny up to 2 cents, 3 cents, 5 cents all the way up to 8 cents. But it didn’t end there. A lot of excitement for Dogecoin. Dogecoin was all over the news.

Dogecoin certainly got the attention of Elon Musk

Dogecoin kind of began to settle down in February 2021, but all this attention for Dogecoin certainly got the attention of Elon Musk. Elon Musk started tweeting regularly about Dogecoin. Dogecoin the people’s currency, Dogecoin to the Moon, Dogecoin to Mars. He even bought some for his son Little X, saying Little X was a little Dogecoin outlawed.

But Dogecoin’s price kind of settled down in March. A lot of people though Dogecoin is dead. but there’s a lot of talk of other things going on with Dogecoin. The Dogecoin community was back. Billy Markus, the co-creator of Dogecoin, came back to the Dogecoin community.

DOGE Day right on April 1st was going to be this fun joke of a day and Dogecoin was going to take part in it. And Dogecoin had a little spike that day. Everyone is thinking Dogecoin is just a meme coin. But the same time, Elon Musk continues to get more and more involved in cryptocurrency as the Tesla company began to accept Bitcoin as payment for cars.

That got the attention of a lot of other people about cryptocurrency and retailers like Mark Cuban. Mark Cuban began accepting cryptocurrency as well for Dallas Mavericks merchandise.

Elon Musk plugged Dogecoin on SNL

Elon Musk announced that he was going to be making a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live with that announcement. Talk about The Dogefather and more and more people buying Dogecoin. Dogecoin’s price kept going up to 42 cents, up to 50 cents, up to 60 cents.

Mark Cuban made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about the Dogecoin. All of this was just growing and growing. Dogecoin was being talked about everywhere. Dogecoin what’s beginning to be shorted by the time Saturday Night Live started that night, Dogecoin was already down below 60 cents and continue to go down during the show.

Elon Musk suspended payments using Bitcoin. That had an effect on the overall cryptocurrency market. Everything started going down with that. Dogecoin was going down to by the middle of July. Dogecoin was down to 16 cents.

Dogecoin was not in the public eye much anymore over the summer, but a lot of cryptocurrency wasn’t either. But all of a sudden, a lot of people started jumping on the Shiba Inu. And then there was a new coin called Floki.

There were other retailers and celebrities coming on board supporting Dogecoin

A lot of people left Dogecoin and sold their Dogecoin and jumped into Shiba Inu, Floki and others. That didn’t help Dogecoin’s price as Bitcoin recovered and Bitcoin’s price was going up. But there were other retailers coming on board supporting Dogecoin, such as Slim Jim and Newegg. We had also seen a lot of celebrities coming on the Dogecoin train. We had Snoop Dogg talking about DOGE.

A lot of that happening with Dogecoin, a lot less institutions bought into Dogecoin. Now end the year of 2021, Elon Musk was named Time Magazine‘s Person of the Year. And in his interview he was talking about cryptocurrency talking about Dogecoin being better than Bitcoin as use as a currency.

Dogecoin devs continue working on the Dogecoin code

As more and more companies started announcing accepting Dogecoin. AMC announcing they would accept Dogecoin first for gift cards and eventually for tickets for movies. Dogecoin devs continue working on the Dogecoin code. upgrading it. Elon Musk was involved as well and said that we need to improve Dogecoin’s performance, making Dogecoin faster and cheaper.

Dogethereum bridge : Dogecoin Ethereum work together in the future

Dogecoin foundation created, including Billy Markus and Vitalik Buterin, who is the head of Ethereum. So there’s a lot of talk about how Ethereum and Dogecoin could work together in the future. That will be interesting to see going forward next year. But as Dogecoin ends the year of 2021, prices lower than many people would have liked.

But there’s still a lot of support and a lot of enthusiasm for Dogecoin. And we will see great things ahead for Dogecoin in 2022.
