Critical Vulnerability in Dogecoin Averted with Timely Intervention

Blockchain security firm Halborn has discovered a critical vulnerability in the open-source code of Dogecoin that left it vulnerable to a 51% attack, potentially putting over $25bn worth of crypto assets at risk. The same “Rab13s” vulnerabilities that Halborn found in Dogecoin were also discovered in more than 280 networks, including Litecoin and Zcash. Halborn has shared the technical details of the vulnerability with the stakeholders of the affected networks, so that the necessary patches can be released for the community and miners. The company did not disclose more technical information publicly to prevent it from being accessible to people with malicious intentions.
